Hello Oregon Hazelnut Growers,

Good News!!  The Oregon FSA State Office has notified the Hazelnut Industry Office that they are now taking applications for the WHIP + (Tree/Bush/Vine) program.  WHIP+ will provide financial assistance for crop losses many farmers and ranchers experienced in 2018 and 2019 because of record precipitation, extreme cold and snowfall, flooding, hurricanes, wildfires and tornadoes. Eligible crops include those covered under federal crop insurance or Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program.

The WHIP+ program is not:

ECP – Emergency Conservation Program

TAP – Tree Assistance Program

MFP – Market Facility Program

You are urged to contact your local FSA office to schedule a face-to-face appointment to submit your WHIP+ application.  Please do not think you have already applied as this program has just been issued!  There is currently no deadline to file a WHIP+ application but is very important to have your application processed as quickly as possible.
